Canine cognitive dysfunction patients have reduced total hippocampal volume compared with aging control dogs: A comparative magnetic resonance imaging study

چکیده
Background: Hippocampal atrophy is a key pathologic and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) feature of human Alzheimer’s disease (AD). has not been documented via MRI in canine cognitive dysfunction (CCD), which considered as the dog model AD.Aim: The purpose this retrospective comparative volumetric study was to compare total hippocampal volumes between successfully aging (control) dogs diagnosed with CCD.Methods: Mimics® software used derive brain from studies 42 (? 9 years): 16 CCD 26 controls. were normalized volume these values compared groups using Mann–Whitney U tests. Results: Total significantly less for patients control (p = 0.04).Conclusion: results suggest that – similar AD pathological CCD. This finding potential importance both investigating mechanisms related dementia well future hippocampal-targeted therapies.

Fibromyalgia patients have reduced hippocampal volume compared with healthy controls
OBJECTIVE Fibromyalgia patients frequently report cognitive abnormalities. As the hippocampus plays an important role in learning and memory, we determined whether individuals with fibromyalgia had smaller hippocampal volume compared with healthy control participants. METHODS T1-weighted structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans were acquired from 40 female participants with fibromyal...

متن کاملChildren with obesity have cardiac remodeling and dysfunction: a cine DENSE magnetic resonance imaging study
Background Obesity affects one in five children in the US and these children tend to maintain excess weight into adulthood. It has recently been shown that childhood obesity is associated with both cardiac remodeling (hypertrophy) and contractile dysfunction. However, the etiology of these cardiac changes is not well understood. We hypothesized that cardiac remodeling and dysfunction could not ...
متن کاملHippocampal volume in primary unipolar major depression: a magnetic resonance imaging study.
BACKGROUND Previous studies have shown that major depression is frequently accompanied by hypercortisolemia. There is some evidence suggesting that an increase in the glucocorticoid levels may make hippocampal cells more vulnerable to insults caused by hypoxia, hypoglycemia, or excitatory neurotransmitters. Using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), the hippocampi of patients with major depression...
